Over the past decade, Mr Chan has been dedicating his life to education in various platforms, ranging from providing educational opportunities in classrooms and online to training teachers at Rice University and presenting at national conferences. There is one thing that is consistent throughout his journey in his education career: LEARNING SHOULD BE FUN!
We can easily imagine the dreaded image of cramming materials the night before a quiz, test, or exam. Parents and students are, sometimes, mysterized by the disproportionality between time devoted to study and results. After years of observation, there is one clear difference between students who are succeeding and those who are not: the level of enjoyment in learning.
At Fort Bend Learning Commons we strive to restore the joy of learning for our students so that they can find learning truly enjoyable, organic, and effortless. This can only be done by skilled educators who can relate school materials with real life application and develop deeper cognitive skills in learners. While this is heavily dependable on the educators' experience, the expertise of research on education is equally important.
This concept is symbolized in our logo with joyful stars popping out from a book. We believe that knowledge can significantly and positively alter a student's future. We help students to restore their fervish curiosity that was once abundant when they were toddlers. Without curiosity, there is no learning. We help keep students' curiosity alive. We help students' curiosity thrive to a much higher level.
With students' curiosity in mind, we boldly incorporate a question mark on our logo, front and center. We would like to be characterized by the community that we are unique because we truly execute professional education service through students' curiosity.
In Chinese language, knowledge is formed by two characters: Learn & Ask. We believe that true knowledge can only be attained by asking questions. Without questions, knowledge is purposeless. At FBLC, we create purposeful moments as students learn valuable knowledge that will equip them for better future.
