Class Time Is for Teaching

This is not a homework-help center where a tutor sits idle and waits for questions. Every session is instructor-led — structured around direct teaching, discussion, and guided problem-solving. FBLC is built by educators who know how learning works, and we guarantee both teaching and learning in every class.

Support That Doesn’t Stop at the Door

Learning doesn’t only happen during class, and neither does Mr. Chan’s support. Every student gets access to lesson recordings and video explanations on demand, off-hour help via text or email, and flexible study sessions that adjust around upcoming tests and quizzes. All of this is included in tuition — no add-ons, no extra fees.

Same School, Same Course, Same Pace

Every group is built from students taking the same course at the same school. Because everyone shares the same curriculum and pacing calendar, instruction stays precisely aligned to what your student is learning in class — no one is racing ahead or waiting for others to catch up. Many tutoring centers mix students from different schools and levels into one session; the result is generic review that doesn't match anyone's classroom. At FBLC, groups are capped at six and matched intentionally, so every minute of instruction is relevant and every student gets the attention they need.

FBLC maintains normal operating hours on Labor Day (Sep 7, 2026), MLK Jr. Day (Jan 18, 2027), and Easter Sunday (Mar 28, 2027).

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the program open to all students?

Because our small-group format requires students from the same school, same course, and same level, we cannot guarantee acceptance of every enrollment. We may not be able to accommodate students who attend a school other than Clements High School.

Exception: SAT Math Prep is open to students from all schools.

What is the absence policy?

Students can make up a class if our schedule can accommodate it. If a makeup class cannot be scheduled, the credit for that week will be applied to the following billing period.

Students who are absent are encouraged to attend study sessions to catch up on the material they missed.

How is tuition billed?

Tuition is billed every four operational weeks. We do not charge for weeks when classes are not held — for example, Thanksgiving, Winter Break, Spring Break, etc. Please view our school year calendar for billing due dates.

What should my student bring to class?

Students should always bring all current class materials from school to every session. We have a limited number of calculators available for students to use in class.

Can my student switch to a different time slot?

We will try to accommodate occasional schedule changes due to unexpected events such as illness or extracurricular activities. However, due to class capacity, we cannot guarantee all requests will be accommodated.

Please select a time slot that avoids any foreseeable scheduling conflicts.

What if my student is struggling — how will I know?

Parents are always welcome to request a conference with Mr. Chan, preferably over the phone, or request an email update. In-person conferences can also be requested and will be accommodated based on availability.

Does FBLC offer tutoring over the summer?

We offer Summer Camp head-start preparation courses for the following subjects: SAT Math, AP Calculus, AP Precalculus, Algebra II (AAC/OnRamps), AP Chemistry, and Chemistry AAC.

My student attends a school other than Clements. Are there any options?

If our schedule permits, we may be able to open a class if there are 3 or more students from the same school and same course who sign up for tutoring.

Your Instructor

Mr. William Chan

Over a decade of math and science teaching experience in Fort Bend ISD.

Mr. Chan holds a B.S. in Chemistry and an M.A. in Science Education from UT Austin. He has taught at Clements High School, facilitated programs at Rice University, and has been recognized with the UTeach Distinguished Alumni Award, U.S. Presidential Scholar's Most Influential Teacher honor, and multiple other teaching awards. His approach centers on conceptual understanding — helping students see the "why" behind every problem.
